Job Description:



 



We are excited to announce an opening for our medical billing team in our Wheaton office. As a Patient Account Representative you will be handling Medicare, patient medical billing, educating patients, and serve as a liaison between the practice and insurance carriers. We are looking for someone who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment. You will be joining a team who are passionate about medical billing and dedicated to excellence in patient care and service.  


Your main duties include:


§  Posts charges and payments from EHR or fee slips in to computer on a daily basis, using the proper ICD 10 and CPT codes and modifiers. Produces pre-logs that balance to the total charges and payments on fee slips. Maintains daily log sheets and reports total to accounting department.


§  Post payments received in the mail and/or electronically on a daily basis, applying payments to the proper line items using appropriate reason codes. Posts the appropriate write-offs indicated on the Explanations of Benefits. Produces pre-logs that balance to the total payments received, as well as the deposit slips. Mark date, location, deposit and credit card totals on each pre-log prior to delivery to accounting.


§  Daily importing of EDI files to Navicure (clearinghouse) as well as daily downloading of electronic payment files from Navicure. .


§  Produces insurance forms when applicable, on a daily basis for all partitions (ARA, PT, OAC, DC, CC, SG, OL, Wheaton).


§  Produces statements on a daily basis for ARA and tracks the count, when applicable.


§  Maintains accurate demographic information on patients’ accounts. Enter patients insurance information in NextGen PM system accurately. Verify eligibility and benefit when necessary and explain benefits and cost-share to patients.


§  Assists with billing inquiries from physicians, ARA staff, patients and co-workers.


§  Review of Explanations of Benefits for accuracy of reimbursement per contract. Report any discrepancy in reimbursement to the manager.


§  Follow up on assigned insurance company account receivable, denial follow up with insurance, process claims and verify valid referral forms and authorization when applicable, maintain AR within the appropriate timely filling per payer, prepare and submit appeal letters and requested records.


§  Participates in educational activities, follow up with payers regarding policy changes.


§  Review patient’s accounts aging report and contact assigned list of patients by telephone and correspondence regarding past due accounts. Arrange payment plans, ensure all insurance payments are received and refer accounts to collections agency following collection’s protocol


Education:


§  High school Diploma


§  Medical Billing Certificate


§  AA or BS preferred


Qualifications:


§  At least two years' of experience working in physician's office, experience with coding and basic bookkeeping skills such as calculating, reconciliation and verification.
