Boiler Operator/ Lead HVAC Technician 
Greater Boston 

We have a new opportunity for experienced HVAC Mechanic and Boiler Technician in the greater Boston region. The Technician installs, troubleshoots and repairs large and small commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The technician may be required to travel, and work overtime to complete assigned installations, maintenance and repair tasks or to assist other members of the project team or building staff. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the highest level of workmanship and in accordance with all applicable safety procedures and policies. The Senior Technician is aware of the status and critical nature of these systems and responds accordingly.
Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of all building mechanical systems with regard to their installation, operation and performance. This may include ancillary electrical, system controls, life safety, fire protection and security systems
  • Perform all assigned work while ensuring professional workmanship and ensure full compliance with standard safety codes and practices
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) on the mechanical equipment and systems as required on behalf of the company. This maintenance involves the normal lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, replacement of consumable parts (such as filters, indicator lights, etc.) and periodic testing of the equipment.
  • Provide clear and concise verbal and written communication
  • Experience using CMMS work order systems and reporting
  • Installation and maintenance of systems include but are not limited to:
  • Air handling units including both rooftop and built-up units
  • Make up, exhaust and recirculating air systems
  • Water pumping systems, including pumps, strainers and motors
  • Boilers, heat exchangers, steam piping and equipment
  • The cooling plant including but not limited to plate and frame heat exchangers, screw chillers and open loop cooling towers
  • All emergency power generating equipment
  • Computer room environmental air conditioning units
  • All humidification units
  • All plumbing system components
  • Proficiency in operation of standard control packages
  • Assist in evaluating the maintenance and operational performance of the building’s mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Be completely familiar with and in compliance with all written operating procedures associated with the site
  • Be a member of the building’s Quality and Safety Teams.
  • Know the responsibilities of these teams and participate fully
Requirements
  • Minimum five years experience, trade or vocational school education,
  • CFC Certification required along with current Gas/ Oil Burner Technician or Operating Engineer’s License preferred
  • Knowledge of air compressors and associated equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, technical specifications, operation manuals
  • Knowledge of Control Links boiler systems preferable
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and transport equipment and tools in excess of 200 lbs
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality service
  • Valid driver’s license issued by state of residence in good standing
  • Ability to work flexible shift schedule and provide on-call response
  • S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence status required
  • May be required to pass security clearance investigation
