Job Purpose

The Messaging Support Engineer provides infrastructure support for our client's Microsoft Exchange Server System environment, which consists of 35+ servers and 8,000+ mailboxes. The Engineer supports all aspects of the messaging infrastructure, to include Microsoft Skype, border security, Secure Email, and Enterprise level archiving systems. Serves as level 3 technical support for the Technical Services team.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

    • Leads projects and is responsible for the design and implementation of new technology initiatives supporting the environment.
    • Ensures new technology initiatives are stable and readily maintained.

 

    • Plans and executes system upgrades for Exchange and Skype platforms
    • Manages projects within deadlines and provides weekly project status reports to management.

 

  • Serves as Level-3 escalation for Messaging related server supported applications.
  • Develops processes for the day-to-day system administration of Messaging Server environments including; Exchange Server 2016/Exchange Online, Skype for Business/Skype Online, Enterprise Vault Archiving System, Cisco Ironport Email security appliances.
  • Analyzes performance of the environment and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Expertly utilizes PowerShell to build and manage the environment by implementing and improving upon automated tasks
  • Actively seeks out system and environment automation and optimizations

Other duties

  • Participates in 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory Design and support.
    • Extensive hands-on knowledge in Microsoft Exchange Server 2016/Exchange Online
    • Extensive hands-on knowledge in Skype for Business/Skype Online and audio/video integration
    • Ability to lead and manage projects, work independently and in a team environment with limited supervision.
    • Skilled in evaluating the security of an Email infrastructure and able to remediate security findings
    • Advanced Powershell scripting
    • Experience with configuring and managing security roles within the Exchange environment.
    • Experience deploying and managing server virtualization technology. VMWare and HP Blade Servers experience preferred.
    • Possess strong oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong documentation and organizational skills
    • Possess a strong work commitment to perform on shift as scheduled
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3-5 years experience providing support in a multi-server enterprise environment consisting of 5,000+ users in multiple geographic locations.
  • Programming experience required (VB Script, Perl, PowerShell).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Required

  • MCSE certification
