Manage a team responsible for data product methodology and ad hoc analyses. The team is responsible for overall methodology and business rules behind transforming raw data into consistent, quality data used in client industry data products, reporting, and analyses.    


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


 


·         Hire, develop, and retain a staff of qualified personnel to create and maintain ongoing data analyses that support product development, and the quality assurance department.


·         Review and sign off on the accuracy of the data reported when any changes are made to production reporting systems.


·         Generate routine deliverables generated outside of the production process to support the MAP product.


·         Develop methodologies to convert new raw data sets into meaningful information used in core data products and reporting that are aligned with the industry’s needs.


·         Create an environment whereby the team can respond to ad-hoc queries for custom analyses of the data using methodologies consistent with core data products.


·         Maintain documentation for data processing and analytics.

Education and/or Work Experience


Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, with coursework concentrated in statistics, math, or applied economics preferred. Superior analytical, organizational, as well as written and oral skills, and a high level of attention to detail with timely follow-through. A minimum of five years of work experience.


 


Analytical Experience and Tools


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated expertise merging, analyzing and manipulating data in a data warehouse. Experience with Excel, SQL, R, Tableau (or some other advanced data visualization tool) and PowerPoint are required. An understanding of quality-control procedures in a data system context is preferred.


 


Managing and developing a team


Three or more years managing and developing a team of three or more people is preferred, with a proven track record of developing analytical talent.  In addition, the team is both a client and a resource to other teams and must be able to manage expectations appropriately while coordinating, planning, and meeting deadlines for deliverables in a fast-paced environment where projects span across teams.

The data landscape is fresh, with few existing tracks to follow; as such, the successful candidate will be naturally inquisitive and self-motivated to dig in to data to understand relationships and validate hypotheses. By its very nature, the role requires the person to be able to design new metrics, suggest and collaborate to bring on and analyze new data sets, and make changes to existing processes.
